The 2026 PHENND K-16 June Institute will explore strategies, programs, and partnerships that create “warm handoffs”—intentional, relationship-centered approaches that support students as they transition from middle school to high school, high school to college, and college to the workforce.
This year’s theme, “The Warm Handoff: Successful Student Transitions to High School, College and the Workforce,” will feature conversations and presentations from education leaders, college access professionals, workforce development experts, and community partners. Attendees will learn about effective models for collaboration, mentoring, student engagement, and data sharing that help students succeed during critical transition points.
The program will include a keynote conversation featuring Dr. Alycia Marshall, President of Community College of Philadelphia, and Dr. Elaine Maimon, former President of Governors State University, moderated by Dr. Debora Borges-Carrera, Chief Education Officer for the City of Philadelphia. Breakout sessions and a closing plenary will provide practical tools and insights that participants can apply in their own work.
