La Liga del Barrio

Description

La Liga del Barrio is Philadelphia’s first Latino youth basketball league, offering programs in other sports like track and field to Latino youth and minorities across the city. Liga provides an opportunity to develop sports skills and enjoy the game while also promoting educational achievement. The league is open for boys and girls ages 6 to 18 and can consist of up to 32 teams per season.

Eligibility

Divisions are broken into age groups consisting of Boys:
• Division A (Ages 6 – 8)
• Division B (Ages 9 – 11), Division C (ages 12-14)
• Division D (ages 15-18)

Their Girls divisions may vary based on skill levels as opposed to age groups. They play schedule basic skills clinics in the months of either October or November (sometimes both) and then proceed with scrimmage games in early December (coaches attend all their division scrimmage games in order to evaluate talent).
