Brittany Davis Live at the Roots Picnic 2025

Philly Educator Brittany Davis on Teaching, Wellness & Following Your Passion

September 8, 2025

Recorded at: The Roots Picnic 2025 • Guest: Brittany Davis

At the Roots Picnic this summer, we caught up with Brittany Davis, a dedicated special education teacher, administrator, and certified yoga and wellness instructor. Brittany shared her journey, her passion for student mental health, and advice for Philly students who are figuring out their next steps after high school.

Brittany’s career began early, working with children as a teen and later pursuing both undergraduate and graduate degrees in education. During the pandemic, she also took a leap of faith and became a certified yoga and wellness facilitator, blending mindfulness and education into her daily work.

🌿 Mental Wellness for Students

“When we came out of the pandemic, students and educators alike needed new tools to manage stress, emotional regulation, and overall well-being,” Brittany explained. “Integrating yoga and wellness into education helps students feel good in their bodies and minds while staying focused on learning.”

📚 Advice for Philly High School Students

Brittany encouraged students to start by looking inward: “Ask yourself what excites you, what you’re passionate about, and then do the research! Find schools, programs, or mentors who can guide you. There are so many resources now — take advantage of them.”

She also stressed the importance of mentorship: “There’s always someone ahead of you who has walked the path. Find people doing what inspires you, ask questions, and learn from them. Mentors open doors you might not even know exist.”

🎓 Philly Pride & Student Success

As a lifelong Philadelphian, Brittany spoke about her love for the city and its opportunities: “There’s no vibe like Philly. Whether you love art, music, or museums — it’s all here. You can find your path and your people.”
