$1,500 Scholarship for Black Women Impacted by Substance Abuse, Due: 8/11
Background: The Linda Hicks Memorial Scholarship honors the life of a loving mother and caretaker who bravely overcame abuse and trauma. Linda’s story sheds light on how far we’ve come in supporting women through domestic violence, addiction, and mental health challenges. This scholarship supports African American women passionate about helping others heal from abuse or addiction and encourages future leaders to build safer, healthier communities.
Eligibility:
✅ African American women
🎓 Enrolled in college
💔 Personally impacted by or have a loved one affected by abuse or addiction
Requirements:
📝 Write about how you’ve helped—or plan to help—others leave abusive relationships or overcome addiction
🎓 Students in social services or health & human services are strongly encouraged to apply
