Temple University’s Cecil B. Moore Scholars Program

Moore Scholars Program which creates an academic pathway and offers full-tuition scholarships for Philadelphia public school students living in North Philadelphia. There are 25 scholarships offered each academic year. Interested families and students can register for an upcoming information session, or contact Paris Williams at paris.williams@temple.edu.
Cecil B. Moore Scholars receive:
• 4-year full tuition scholarship
• 2-credit Summer Seminar Course
• 4-year programming to provide connections to opportunities and develop important skills
• Academic support that includes: 1. a weekly required study hall, 2. a weekly required one-on-one with a coach, 3. meetings with the Scholar director
Eligibility:
Students must attend a public/public charter school in Philadelphia and live in one of the following zip codes: 19121, 19122, 19123, 19125, 19130, 19132, 19133 and 19140.
How to Apply:
1. Apply to Temple: To be considered for the Cecil B. Moore Scholarship Program, students MUST apply to Temple by the Early Action Deadline of November 1st. Click here for Temple University’s First Year Application.
2. Communicate early: After being accepted to Temple University students MUST email Paris Williams at paris.williams@temple.edu to express interest in applying for the scholarship.
Dual Enrollment Course:
Cecil B. Moore Scholars are invited to participate in a dual enrollment course during the spring semester of their 12th grade year. To be accepted to the scholars program students must complete this course. The dual enrollment program is a free 3-credit transferable course that will be on your college transcript. It will provide you with the opportunity to take a college course with current Temple students and faculty to offer a reall life experience as a college student.
The Selection Committee will consider:
1. Student attendance to and performance in the spring semester dual enrollment course
2. Communication and engagement
3. Application materials (video, essay, and letter of recommendation)
