$1,000 New York Film Academy Scholarship, Due: 9/9

Background: Your voice has the power to inspire change. The Youth Free Expression Film Contest encourages young filmmakers to tell real stories about their communities through documentary films. This year’s theme, “Documenting Our Democracy,” is about showing what makes your town, city, or neighborhood special and how people work together to solve problems. Whether you use a professional camera or your phone, your story can help others see the world in a new way.


Eligibility:
🎥 Must be 19 years old or younger when the film is submitted
🇺🇸 Must live in the United States or a U.S. territory (citizenship not required)
🎬 Documentary film submissions only
🌟 Individual and team entries are welcome

Requirements:
🎞️ Create a documentary film based on the theme “Documenting Our Democracy”
📤 Upload your film through FilmFreeway
✍️ Submit an artist’s statement explaining your film’s message
🎨 Showcase creativity, storytelling, and technical skill

Scholarship Amount:
💰 First Place: Scholarship to the New York Film Academy
🏆 $1,000 for 1st place winner!
