Background: The ASCAP Foundation Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award supports young jazz creators early in their careers. It is funded by the Herb Alpert Foundation, which helps the arts and music education across the U.S. This award encourages talented young people who write original jazz music.
Eligibility:
🎵 Age 13+
🎓 U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or student with valid U.S. visa
🕒 Under age 30 by Dec 1, 2025
✍️ ASCAP writer member OR unaffiliated OR member of an international PRO licensed through ASCAP
🚫 Not a past 3-time Herb Alpert Award recipient
Requirements:
📝 Completed online application
🎼 Score/chart of one original jazz work (no arrangements)
🎧 MP3 recording/electronic realization
🔐 Rights clearance for vocal text (if used)
👤 Name on all uploaded files
👪 Parent/guardian submission + consent form for minors
