
$1,000 Human Rights Essay Scholarship for South Asian Students, Due: 8/25
Background: Dalit Solidarity Forum USA, Hindus for Human Rights, Indian American Muslim Council, and Tasveer are hosting the 2nd Annual Civil & Human Rights Essay and Art Contest. The contest highlights connections between caste discrimination and racial injustice, drawing inspiration from leaders like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Students can submit essays, art, or social media projects to express their voices on resistance and justice.
Eligibility:
🎓 High school or undergraduate student
🌏 Identify as South Asian heritage living outside South Asia
🎨 Submission must connect to theme of art & resistance
Requirements:
📝 High school: 500–800 word essay OR visual art (painting, collage, digital art, etc.)
👩👩👦 Guardian permission required if under 18
🎥 College Track 1: Social Media Justice Challenge (post w/ hashtag + tag organizers)
🎨 College Track 2: 800–1200 word essay OR multimedia/visual art submission
