Background: The University of Pennsylvania’s Young Scholars Program gives high school juniors within a one-hour commute the chance to take real college classes—for free! This opportunity is perfect for students with strong grades, test scores, and passions inside and outside the classroom. If you’re intellectually curious and ready to learn alongside college students, this program could be for you!
Eligibility:
🎯 Scores in the 85th percentile or higher on SAT, PSAT, or ACT
📚 Minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA
✍️ Strong, insightful writing
🧠 Great letters of recommendation
🧩 Well-rounded extracurriculars
Requirements:
🌐 Submit online application
🧾 Upload PSAT/SAT/ACT scores or submit a 3rd letter of rec
📄 Upload 9th–10th grade (Fall) or 9th–11th grade (Spring) transcripts
✍️ Write thoughtful application essays
💌 Submit 2 letters of recommendation (3 if no test scores)
💵 $100 application fee (waived for eligible Philadelphia public/charter students)
