MobilizeGreen: Paid Outdoor Conservation Program for Philly High School Students

Background:

✅ In partnership with the Fish and Wildlife Service, MobilizeGreen offers high school students in Philadelphia paid opportunities to work on conservation crews at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum.


Program Schedule:

🌸 Spring Crews

  • 12 Saturdays
  • Program hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 2024 dates coming soon

☀️ Summer Crews

  • Monday to Friday
  • Program hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 2024 dates coming soon

👥 Crew Members collaborate in teams for wildlife refuge projects:

🌿 Conservation projects
🚶 Improvements to hiking trails
🦉 Enhancements to wildlife habitat
🚧 Visitor infrastructure upgrades

📚 Opportunity for:

🌱 Environmental education
🏞️ Outdoor recreation activities
🤝 Led by crew leaders and Fish and Wildlife staff


Program Perks:

💰 Paid Work Experience

💸 $65/day stipend (fall and spring)
💸 $350/week stipend (summer)

🤝 Develop collaboration and leadership skills

👥 Work with high school students from across the region

🌲 Explore outdoor activities: biking, hiking, boating, wildlife viewing, and fishing

🌿 Learn about natural resource management careers


Eligibility:

⚖️ Ages 15-18 during program
📚 Enrolled in High School
🤝 Fulfill essential functions with/without accommodations
🇺🇸 U.S. citizen or permanent resident
🔒 Valid U.S. Social Security number or applied for by program start
📜 Obtain work permit if <18, as required by state law
