Flagship Scholarships to Empower LGBTQ Students

Who is the Point Foundation?
The Point Foundation’s mission is to empower promising lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential. Point provides financial support, a community of peers, leadership training, and mentorship, to US college students from around the world.

Background: The Point Foundation provides financial awards based on need, renewable for up to four years of support. They currently have 3 types of scholarships available for LGBTQ students. See the list below to click through and learn more about the scholarship that may interest you the most.


🌈$1900 The Point Flagship Scholarship for BIPOC students – 📅 Application Deadline: October 19th

Eligibility: 
✅ Must be enrolled or intending to enroll at an accredited college or university based in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska.
✅ Must be at least a senior in high school.
✅ Scholarship recipients must identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) communities and LGBTQ.
✅ Community college students must be transferring to a four-year college or university.

Additional Support Included in Scholarship: Students will receive Coaching and access to Conferences and Panels.

🌈The Point Flagship Scholarship for LGBTQ students – 📅 Application Deadline: December 5th

Eligibility: 
✅ Must be enrolled or intending to enroll at an accredited college or university based in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska.
✅ Must be at least a senior in high school.
✅ Must be “out” as a person who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community.
✅ Community college students must be transferring to a four-year college or university.

Additional Support Included in Scholarship: Students will receive Mentorship and Leadership Development.

How to APPLY:
✍️ Finalists will be asked to submit a recorded video presentation and a faculty recommendation

🌈The Point Flagship Community College Scholarship ($2,400 per semester or $4,800 per academic year) – 📅 Application Deadline: February 8th

Eligibility: 
✅ Must be enrolled or intending to enroll at an accredited community college in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska.
✅ Must have 1-2 years of community college left and either (1) intend to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program at a four-year institution OR (2) graduate with an associates degree within two years.
✅ Must be “out” as a person who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community.
✅ Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits) throughout the academic year.

Additional Support Included in Scholarship: Students will receive Mentorship and Leadership Development.
