Paid ASPIRE Program for 11th Graders Interested in a Career in Nursing: Due 1/30

Program: The ASPIRE Program at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) sponsored by the Howley Foundation in partnership with La Salle University, is an enrichment program designed for high school juniors interested in pursuing a career in nursing. Upon acceptance as an ASPIRE Scholar, you will participate in a number of interactive experiences designed to expose and introduce you to the profession of nursing. After successful completion of the high school program, ASPIRE Scholars receive a stipend of $500, and will be invited to return to participate in the ASPIRE Program their senior year.

Following your high school senior year, ASPIRE Scholars will have the opportunity to receive scholarship funding to attend La Salle University to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and also maintain part-time employment at HUP. ASPIRE Scholars will receive ongoing support and mentorship throughout their undergraduate program and employment at HUP.

Eligibility:
U.S. Citizen, non-citizen national, or legal permanent resident
• Junior attending a high school in Philadelphia
• 3.0+ GPA
• Available to attend full Saturday enrichment sessions during Spring of junior year and fulfill other ASPIRE Program requirements
• Part of a household with demonstrated financial need

How to Apply: Students can apply here by the January 30th deadline. Required materials include an essay on the prompt provided and your transcript. A letter of recommendation will be required but all students need to do on the application is provide the names and email addresses for your references.
