HERricane Philadelphia: Free Program for Girls 16-19

Overview: HERricane Philadelphia engages girls 16-19 in the future of emergency management. The program offers participants hands-on experience in this public safety field.

HERricane Philadelphia will take place in Center City with visits to OEM’s and FEMA’s emergency operation centers. The program will run from Wednesday, June 15th through Friday, June 17th, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The program is FREE but space is limited. Apply here now.

Program Description: HERricane is a national program by the Institute of Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Management (I-DIEM) that provides women a means to explore a career in Emergency Management while developing leadership skills. Women are underrepresented in Emergency Management but make up a disproportionate amount of disaster victims. This program exposes young women to the “hidden” career field of emergency management. Throughout this experience, participants will receive hands-on, developmental training in:

• Response & Incident Management
• Natural Hazards
• Communications and Public Speaking
• Personal Preparedness
• Diversity and Inclusion
