$3,200 Jeffrey A. Mattos Nursing Scholarship for Black Female Undergrads Due 4/16

Background: The Jeffrey A. Mattos Memorial Nursing Scholarship is furnished by the Philadelphia-based organization Gifted Scholars, who connect and gift girls of color with resources for growth and learning opportunities.

Jeffrey A. Mattos grew up in North Philadelphia with a love for education and went on to serve in the US Navy. After completing his service, Jeffrey finished his nursing training and worked as an RN for more than 30 years. This scholarship seeks to support young women of color who are following Jeffrey’s path and pursuing careers in nursing.

Award: Three scholarships of $3,200 each will be awarded.

Eligibility: The scholarship is open to any Black female undergraduate student in Pennsylvania or Delaware with at least a 2.5 GPA, and an interest in nursing.

How to Apply: Students can apply here by the April 16th deadline. To apply, students are asked to submit 400-600 words on the following topic: Who or what inspired you to get into the nursing field and how do you plan on giving back to your community through your career?
