$500 – $4,000 Union Plus Scholarship Due 1/31

Background: The Union Plus Scholarship awards are presented annually to union members or members of their families who want to begin or continue their post-secondary education. Scholarship awards range from $500 – $4,000 with applications due January 31st.

EligibilityCurrent and retired members of participating unions, their spouses and their dependent children are eligible to apply. At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant’s spouse or parent (if applicant is a dependent) is required. The one-year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31st of the scholarship year. You can find a list of qualifying unions in the “Choose Your Union” dropdown here.

Applicants may be attending U.S. accredited colleges and universities, including undergraduate and graduate schools, community colleges, trade and technical schools.

Evaluation Criteria: Applicants are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended. The required essays can account for up to half your total score.

How to Apply: Complete the online application, which includes the following requirements:
• One letter of reference from a teacher or other adult who is familiar with your achievements and abilities
• Two required essays of approximately 350 words each
