$2,500 Ballinger First Year Scholarship Due 11/19

First year Architecture, Engineering, or Interior Design students are invited to apply by November 19th to The Ballinger Scholarship for Equity. Ballinger will award a $2,500 scholarship paired with two Ballinger mentors and an opportunity to shadow a professional in the awardee’s discipline of interest.

Eligibility:

The scholarship is open to students who are Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color and who meet the following criteria-

• Are graduating high school seniors, graduated high school seniors, or first year college students as of August 31, 2021 that attended high school in Philadelphia.
• Are enrolled in, or are attending, an accredited program at a U.S. university or college in architecture, engineering, or interior design starting in the fall of the 2021-2022 school year.
• Engineering students must be enrolled in one of the following degree programs: structural (civil), mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering.

How to Apply:

• Submit proof of acceptance to a college or university for the Fall 2021 semester with an accredited program in architecture, engineering, or interior design.
• Submit one letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, employer, mentor or coach, including recommender’s contact information.
• An autobiography that fits on a single sheet of 8.5in x 11in piece of paper. Creativity is encouraged.
• A 500 word minimum essay response to the following: How do you intend to shape the future with architecture, engineering, or interior design.

* Note that there are additional scholarships for Architecture, Engineering, and Interior Design transfer students and students in their final year, both due January 14th.
