11th-12th Grade Heavy Construction Virtual Career Experience

Allan Myers, the Mid Atlantic Region’s largest Heavy Highway contractor, aggregate and asphalt supplier, will be offering a virtual career experience for a limited number of high school students this summer.

Overview:

• Get to know more about heavy civil construction, construction career options with and without a college degree, and Allan Myers.
• See and learn about different aspects of our work and business in general
• Learn directly from senior leaders
• Experience Q&A with college interns who are working with us this summer

Details:

This Program will consist of 1 virtual session per week for 8 weeks, each 60-90 minutes each, including an in person visit to an Allan Myers large project to meet with Field Engineers, Superintendents, and Project Managers for Q&A (subject to most current COVID safety protocols).

Anticipated sessions include:

• Introduction to Heavy Civil Construction
• Field Crew virtual tour (dirt, pipe, paving, etc.)
• Leadership at Allan Myers
• Virtual Tour of Reading Asphalt Plant
• Construction Estimating
• Construction Safety and Operations
• Ross Myer’s (Allan Myers CEO) Plan for Personal and Team Success
• Virtual social and Q&A with Allan Myers current college interns as moderators
