$1,000 11th-12th Grade Phyliss J. McCarthy Writing Scholarship Due 7/23

Submit your entry here by July 23rd for the Phyliss J. McCarthy Scholarship for Excellence in Writing.

The scholarship is open to high school juniors and seniors. $1,000 will be awarded to one winner with additional prizes (amount TBD) awarded to two runners-up. Pending author approval, the winning stories will also be featured on the Learncurious website and blog.

Applicants are asked to submit a response of 2000-words or less to one of the following prompts:
• Narrative: What are you most afraid of? Reflect on your greatest fear and detail your answer in story form: fiction, biographic, or something in-between.
• Meta: How do you define love? Tell a story or describe an experience & what was learned from it.
• Wacky: Complete the 11 Mad-Lib-style fill-in-the-blanks, then craft a poem that includes both a secret message as well as each of your chosen words at least once.
