$10,000 Shawn Carter Foundation Scholarship for Students with Financial Need Due 4/30

Background: The Shawn Carter Foundation was founded by Gloria Carter and her son, Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter on the belief that any motivated individual in need should have the opportunity to further his or her education. SCF scholarships can be used to cover tuition expenses and related supplemental educational expenses such as books, lab fees, travel and select costs of living. All Shawn Carter Scholars are required to “give back” by conducting community service and by serving as mentors to younger, aspiring Shawn Carter Scholars. Awards are given in the amount of $1,500 to $2,500 annually, renewable for up to four years.

Eligibility:
• High school seniors or students with GED diplomas pursuing their first undergraduate degree
• Students enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year undergraduate programs or a vocational/trade school
• US citizen or Permanent Resident
• 25 years old or younger
• Minimum 2.0 GPA
• Household income not exceeding $75,000 USD

How to Apply: Students can apply here by the April 30th deadline. Required materials include:
• FAFSA or Recent Tax Form
• Transcript
• Financial Aid Award Letter
• Essay
