$5,000 Significant Challenge College Scholarship Due 2/1

Background: Each year Richie’s Spirit Foundation awards $5,000 in college scholarships to three graduating high school seniors who demonstrate leadership, character, and initiative in school and community affairs and merit academic achievement. Richie Herskowitz died in October 2007 of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) related causes. He was just short of finishing his senior year of high school. Richie lived his life with a positive spirit no matter what obstacles got in his way. Watch a video to learn more about Richie’s life.

Eligibility:
• U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident who will graduate in the Spring of 2022 from a U.S. high school
• Plans to attend a vocational school, community college, or four-year college full-time during the 2022 – 2023 academic year
• Has a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
• Has taken challenging courses throughout their high school career
• Has demonstrated strong leadership roles within their community

How to Apply: Apply here by February 1st. The application includes the following two part essay question: Briefly describe a significant challenge you have faced in your life. Describe how you overcame this challenge. Tell us how it has shaped you as an individual.
