High School Social Leaders Scholarship

On any given day, the news is filled with stories of human suffering and despair. We all know there is much work to be done in regard to inequality and environmental protection, but who will step up and make positive change happen? Young people have the energy and innovation to change the status quo, and that is where the High School Social Leaders Scholarship comes in. This scholarship is awarded twice a year to the most innovative leaders who are making a difference, whether in their communities or on a global scale.

Who is eligible to apply for the High School Social Leaders Scholarship?

The scholarship is open to high school students who are actively involved in making the world a better place through leadership and strategic action. Students may be working independently or with a non or for profit organization. The only requirement is that applicants must be planning on pursuing higher education.

This is an essay scholarship. Applicants should write a thoughtful 500 to 1,000 word response to the following prompt:

“How are you working to address an important social issue? Why are you passionate about this issue? How are you or the organization you’re part of innovative in its approach to the issue? Why do you believe your strategy is best suited to solve the problem?”

Remember, since this is an essay scholarship, your very best writing is required. Make sure that you grab the reader’s attention at the start and also, that you directly answer the prompt. Don’t forget to proofread before you submit!

How much is the High School Social Leaders Scholarship worth?

Every six months, one lucky student will receive a $1,000 award.

The application deadline is March 28, 2020. Winners will be announced on April 28, 2020.
