P.L.A.Y. has always made a point to promote compassion towards animals in both our personal and professional lives. From working directly with local shelters to donating products to animals in need through our Warm Bellies Initiative with the Petfinder Foundation, animal welfare has always been a staple of our business. We know there are plenty of young minds out there that are equally passionate about helping animals in need.
In an effort to encourage them and promote this cause, P.L.A.Y. will be awarding our sixth annual $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior (2018-2019) who best exemplifies our core beliefs.

Beginning 08/01/2018, P.L.A.Y. will promote, by means of internet and print, the opportunity to submit entries to win the Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship.
P.L.A.Y. was honored to receive a record amount of essay submissions last year! Due to this increase in scholarships; P.L.A.Y. is thrilled to once again offer three prizes.
1st Prize – One Scholarship valued at $1,000
2nd Prize – One set of Warm Bellies Special Edition Chill Pads (10 beds) to be donated to an animal shelter of your choice*
3rd Prize – One Garden Fresh plush toy set (5 toys) to be donated to the animal shelter of your choice*
*Prizes ship to U.S. animal shelters only and must be located within the 48 contiguous states
Winner needs to respond within 2 weeks of first contact, or another winner will be chosen. Contest subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Acceptance of prize constitutes consent to use winner’s name and likeness for editorial, advertising and publicity purposes, without further compensation, except where prohibited. By entering and/or by accepting a prize, you agree to be bound by these rules and to release P.L.A.Y. from any and all liability arising out of your participation in this sweepstakes with respect to the awarding, receipt, use and/or misuse of any prize.
This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the United States with venue in San Francisco County in the State of California.

You agree that you shall not upload, post or transmit any materials which contain any computer viruses, Easter eggs, worms, Trojan Horses or other harmful component or programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information.
P.L.A.Y. reserves the right to disqualify any entrant found tampering with the entry process or with the operation of the sweepstakes or the web site without further notice and to invalidate and/or remove suspicious vote blocks from identical IP addresses.
P.L.A.Y. reserves the right to adjust the rules as instances arise throughout the contest. If an entry is found to be in violation of a new rule not listed here, they will be contacted and given a warning FIRST before being evaluated for disqualification. All contact will be made through the e-mail address used when submitting an entry.
The contest is open to U.S. residents. No purchase necessary. All participants must be enrolled as a full-time high school senior. Entries are limited to one submission per person. Immediate family members of P.L.A.Y. employees are excluded from this contest. All essay submissions must be received by 11:59pm PT on Wednesday, February 28, 2019.
How To Enter
To apply, students will submit an essay with 2-3 photos of their volunteer efforts to help animals in need and how that involvement has changed their lives or shaped their perceptions on the importance of animal welfare by February 28, 2019.
- The essay should be between 500-1000 words.
- Send a Word doc attachment to SCHOLARSHIP@PETPLAY.COM with your essay submission.
- The file name should be your full name, state, and date of birth. For example,
- 2-3 photos of your volunteer efforts to help animals in need
- In the body of your email, include student’s full name, date of birth, email address, postal address, high school they are currently enrolled in, and a phone number to contact.
Failure to provide any of these terms listed above will result in automatic disqualification.
How To Win
P.L.A.Y. will select the winner based on the best essay as determined by our internal panel of judges. Selection criteria will include, but is not limited to:
- Compelling and engaging description of volunteer efforts and their impact on the personal life of the student.
- Thematic consistency throughout the submission around the central thesis.
- Proper spelling and grammar usage throughout the submission.
Following the February 28th deadline, P.L.A.Y. will select the winner during the month of March and will announce the winner in April 2019 on the website pending notification of the student and his or her family. Please note that winner must provide proof of acceptance to College/University of choice prior to receiving the grand prize.
